Are Los Angeles Florist The Best Florist in The World?

There are many flowers and florist all over the world, but Los Angeles Florist would have to be consider one of the best in the world to find fresh flowers and the best florist. Los Angeles is surrounded by many suburbs and one in particular is Glendale. Glendale has one of largest concentration of flower shops in all of the US.

The biggest reason you have so many flower shops in Glendale is because you have so many florist in Glendale. If you wanted the best plastic surgeon you would go to Beverly Hills. If you wanted to shop at the finest leather shops you would want to go to Florence Italy. If you want the most popular pizza you would probably think New York pizza. I think you get my point about Glendale flowers. You cannot go more than two blocks before you see a flower shop. Glendale florist are also very knowledgeable about the floral business.

Anaid Petrosyan has been a Florist designer for over 30 years. She has worked with top designers throughout her career. Her designs have been used in celebrity weddings and big events, but she never took the credit. Anaid Petrosyan has been working in the background for most of her career. Creating wonderful floral designs using nothing but the freshest flowers and having somebody else take credit for her design was normal. But now things are different Anaid Petrosyan has decide to start her own floral design company. She open the door to her new flower shop in Glendale CA less than a year ago and already people are taking notice in Anaid Petrosyan floral design.

She offers flower delivery service to Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and Los Angeles. Most of her customers call her the flower of Los Angeles because everyone in Los Angeles sees her as a flower. “Very sweet women, always going above and beyond her customers expectations” says one of her customers as she is leaving the flower shop.

Anaid Petrosyan says that it is very special for to be asked to design a couple’s wedding. You are being asked to be a part of their special day. But once it’s time to work, its work, work, work and more work. My team needs to work on the Wedding Ceremony Flowers, Wedding Reception and the Wedding Party Flowers. The wedding party has to do with Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaids flowers, Boutonnieres, Corsages and that’s just the beginning. You still have coordinate with your team have things looking fresh and flawless the day of the wedding. This is only easy for somebody with over 30 years in the flower business.

Glendale is a very special city; it’s a big city with a small city feel to it. One of the things that makes Glendale CA so special, is all the little flower shops you will find in the city. In fact, the flower shops are so special you’ll see flower shops serving coffee and pastries. I don’t know about you but I can’t imagine a better place to have my cup of coffee with some baklava, reading the paper and beginning sourand by beautiful flowers. And when I leave I buy some flowers for my beautiful wife.

It’s florist like Anaid Petrosyan that listen to their customers needs and then design flower arrangements that speak to her customer’s heart. I know this because I told Anaid Petrosyan that it was my wife’s birthday and I wanted something special for her and that my wife loved fall flowers, “oh and by the way could you have it ready for me in two hours.” When I came by to pick up the flowers, I was shock at what I saw, the most beautiful flower arrangement I have ever seen. These tall sun flowers with chrysanthemums, alstroemeria and other beautiful flowers. I was on such high leaving her flower shop knowing that my wife was going to love these flowers. I felt like a five year old wanting to share these beautiful flowers with everyone I saw. I guess that is the magic of flowers, it’s like candy for our soul, it makes us happy from the inside out. When my wife open the door and saw me carrying her flowers, her face lit up and she had a smile from ear to ear. I will never forget her reaction. It was a priceless moment.

The History of Funeral Flowers

For centuries the flowers for a funeral were used to cover the odor of the deceased (decomposing body) and as an expression. An expression of respect for the dead and sentiment for grievers.

Funeral professionals today do a great job in presenting their beliefs in the importance of funeral flowers in a service. And only by conveying these beliefs will the family of the deceased understand the importance of the flowers.

Funerals are emotional time for all involved. Emotion is also a base for all human expressions. Funeral flowers sent to the church, grave site or family’s home do express emotions that are heard to verbalize. These feelings of sympathy, respect, faithfulness and sharing of grief are spoken through flowers. Flowers do create a worm and caring environment and take away the cold realities of death and despair.

Families of deceased do have a right to express their feelings and representing the deceased through flowers. The types, colors, seasons and shapes all can describe the way we feel and they can also describe someone’s character and personality.

It is customary to send flowers for a funeral, however, some of us do and some do not understand the significance of spirituality in this tradition. Flowers are not only symbols of love and respect, they also signify eternity and immortality. Flowers comfort hopeless, and care for depressed. The life cycle of a flower is close to a human life cycle. And by watching them we learn that life is not forever.

So, flowers in a funeral have a symbolic and visual role. They add warmth and richness to the service. Flowers represent sympathy to the grievers.

Sympathy flowers sent as comfort to the living and as token of respect for the departed.

Carnation Flower, Most Popular Flower in the World?

Carnation Flower is one of the most if not the most popular flower in the world. Carnation flowers are available in many solid colors as well as mixed colors.

Carnation Flower or the flower of gods as some people call them is very long-lasting and extremely enjoyable. As flower of love it is enchanting and delicate.

Carnation Flowers have a very nice texture and aroma. Carnation symbolize attraction, desire, distinction, appreciation and of course love.

In Christianity it is believed that when Mary bitterly wept for Jesus at the foot of the cross and when tears touched the ground the first carnation sprung up and bloomed. Carnations represent the never ending mother’s love for their children. Thus becoming Mother’s Day flower.

Happiest and Saddest Feelings with Flowers

We express our happiest and saddest feelings with fresh flowers. Has anyone had a wedding without flowers? Can there be a memorable birthday without birthday flowers? Have you seen a funeral without flowers?

After a performance we shower performers with flowers. Get well flowers make someone feel special. With flowers you can express your feelings and emotions. To let them know that you do care and convey your wishes.

There are studies that prove how fresh flowers can change someone’s mood and emotional state. Next time you give flowers to someone pay attention how a smile forms on their face and the mood changes.

Flowers represent all that is beautiful, gentle, passionate and pure. Flowers for an occasion is great, however, the best response one gets when it is unexpected. A home or a business with fresh cut flowers represents warmth and comfort.

Over time we will post what each fresh flower represents, which colors should you choose for an occasion. And does someone’s favorite color really translate to the color of the flower that they like?

Flowers Do Get Sick.

Bacteria and viruses attack cut flowers as they would any one of us. Mixed flowers in a vase pass viruses to each other.

Any leaf of a flower that is submerged or touches water will rut. This rutting produces bacteria that will kill your flowers. If the vase water is not changed frequently a slimy substance (Bacteria) surrounds the end of the stem and flowers will be deprived of water and food.

Do not keep fruits and vegetables close to your fresh flowers. Most fruits and vegetables produce gases that are very harmful to flowers, and makes them wilt and die faster. To prevent any of these things from happening, change the vase water as frequently as you can (once a day is great, once every three days is a max).

Wash the vase with some bleach. Bleach kills any bacteria that are clinging to the vase. Add acids to the water proportionately. A table spoon of lemon juice or vinegar, couple a drops of Listerine will keep the water fresh and bacteria free.

Cutting Flowers to Prolong Vase Life

Cutting techniques for fresh flowers to prolong vase life is important. Planted flowers drink water through their roots. When flowers are cut their stems continue to drink water. Flowers drink water through a process called Capillary action.

Just like a sponge absorbs water through a tiny tubes the same way flowers drink water. Flower stem have tiny straw like tubes that absorb water upwards.

For this reason it is very important to cut your fresh flowers with a sharp knife so these capillaries are not smashed and the water flows freely. Also cutting flowers in an angle is important. When flowers are set in the vase the ends of the stems must have room to absorb water, if the stems are not cut in an angel (45 degree) the stems that touch the bottom of the vase have no room to absorb water.

Love Your Flower Arrangements

There is lots of information on the web on how to treat your flower arrangements after you receive them so they last longer at home. However, there is very little information on why these treatments are required.

Flowers are just like humans, they require water, food, shelter and love. Water must be clean and therefore many suggest that you add lemon juice, vinegar or other acids to the water to keep it clean.

The only food for flowers you need is sugar. Having said this, sugar must be dissolved in the water first so the flowers can survive.

Most cut flowers will not survive long under a direct sunlight, heat or wind. A proper environment will prolong vase life.

Caring for your flower arrangements is very important. Our experience shows that flowers do live longer in nurturing environments. Working with flowers for so many years has convinced us that flowers that are given and received with sincerity and cared for with love last much longer.

Halloween and The Flower Industry

As we approach Halloween, the flower industry raises its prices on Halloween flowers. As we all know Halloween colors are orange and black. There are some beautiful orange flowers like fresh roses, gerberas, bird of paradise, orange lilies, Alstroemerias flower and Heliconias plants, that can be used for Halloween decorations.

Black color flowers are few and hard to find, Black Magic roses and dark purple Calla Lilies are the only flowers get close to black.

For this Halloween we suggest you color some of your flowers. Carnations and Sun Flowers are the easiest to color, great fall flowers. Here is how you can color your flowers. Feel the vase half way with warm water (preferably 110F temperature) and add 4 or 5 drops of food coloring to the water, if you can find black it would be great, if not use dark brown or dark red colors or a mix to get as dark as possible.

First experiment with one or two white color carnations, which will show the results in one or two hours, then you, can use darker color flowers. With a sharp knife, cut 2 to 3 inches from the end of the stems at 45 degree angle and put your flowers in a vase filled with water and food coloring and enjoy.
